Comments:The Muban Educational Trust (MET) is a registered charity dedicated to the research, collection and promotion of Chinese woodblock print and printmaking. The annual MET woodblock printmaking award completed its third year in 2018. The award is for young printmakers of Chinese nationality who graduated from undergraduate and postgraduate printmaking courses in China. The award winners and one shortlisted artist from 2018 have offered to donate examples of their works to the British Museum. These works showcase current techniques and experimentations in woodblock printmaking in China. Xu Na was born in Shandong province in 1986. She received her Masters from the Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts. She currently lives and works in Tianjin. She uses the technique of wood engraving to create subtle and meticulous designs. She prints as she carves and then combines the components. This series explores the protection of woodblock printing heritage. Previously she won second prize in the MET woodblock printmaking award.
