Comments:Parts 2 and 3 of the Mustard Seed Garden Manual were compiled by Wang Gai and his brothers or nephews Wang Shi and Wang Nie in 1701. Visually the most appealing, they show flowers, plants, birds and insects. Closely imitating painted album leaves, the images are complemented with poems in fine calligraphy and with seals by the artist who designed them. The outlines and the precisely aligned subtle shades of colour reveal the high accomplishment of both the block cutter and the printer. (Clarissa von Spee, Jul. 2010)
