Description:
Plate XXI: scene in a large pavilion surrounding a courtyard, showing a lavish feast given by the Emperor on the 14th February 1785 for three thousand old men from all over the Empire, five missionaries also in attendance, to right, the Emperor seated at a table, a drink being served by one of the attendants, in the foreground on the far left and far right, food and drink laid out or being poured, all elderly men are seated, tables in front of them, while musiscians play in the centre of the courtyard. 1788 Etching and engraving

Comments:For a description of the set, see 1877,0714.1505. According to the lengthy description, the imperial family and noblemen were also in attendance, and presents were distributed to the guests. This print was one of four (Plates, XXI, XXII, XXIII and XXIV) added to the set in 1788.
