Comments:The red folds of the lady’s garment are emphasised by strokes of an intense colour. These seem to have been dabbed on the paper with the use of stencils, achieving the effect of a painted brushstroke. This applied technique can be seen in a number of prints on the right. Comparable motifs appear on porcelain plates from the Kangxi period.YPL 29 Oct 2019Previously dated 1644-17531928,0323,0.12-42 dating all changed to ca. 1690-1720 based on advice from Anne Farrer
