Comments:Inscribed with a personal message, but no stamp attached, possibly reflecting the despatch of this card as part of a larger consignment which was delivered by hand. As it is addressed to a class at a school, it is likely that the sender was a teacher and he sent other cards to other classes, of which this is the oinly to survive. The message is dated Aden May 6th, 1922. The sender was clearly not enamoured of Aden. The antiquity of the tanks in the picture have been the subject of much discussion and debate. Sometimes popularly associated with the Queen of Sheba, others suggest an early medieval date and they were rebuilt in the 19th century by the British administration in Aden. The issue of water scarcity in Aden, and Yemen at large, is becoming an increasing problem.
