Comments:Harrison-Hall and Krahl 1994:The arms have been identified as belonging to the Scottish family Jolly (Howard, 1974, p. 645). The motto: LAETAVI which means I HAVE REJOICED, is a pun on the family name. The ark and dove in the shield refer to the Biblical story of God’s safe deliverance of a selection of men, animals and birds from flooding which destroyed the rest of the world. The border of strewn flowers derives from 18th-century French porcelain.
