Description:
Plate. Painted in famille rose enamels and in the centre, a coat of arms, with helmet, crest and mantling. On the sides, green trellis and diaper, also four panels with floral sprays. Brown edges. Made of porcelain. John Drummond of Stanmore in Middlesex, M.P. for Thetford was born in 1723. He was the son of Andrew Drummond of Stanmore, founder of the banking house of Drummond. In 1744 he married Charlotte, senior representative in her heirs of the de Veres, Earls of Oxford and daughter of Lord William Beauclerk – grandson of King Charles II and Eleanor Gwynn.
