Comments:Rawson, 1995:The use of stone to reproduce a plaque generally made in metal, either gold or bronze, is a somewhat surprising development, especially as the plaque imitates the bronze so closely. It seems possible that contact with the main centres of China led the peoples of the periphery to borrow some Chinese techniques, including the working of stones for their own purposes. Alternatively, the Chinese in contact with the peoples of the steppe were so intrigued by their objects that they made careful copies of them for their own use, or for trade with the steppe.
