Description:
Bird plaque of yellow jade with darker areas of inclusion with surface pitting and decomposition. The bird in profile has a round eye, hooked beak, delineated tail feathers and clawed feet. Both sides are similarly decorated.

Comments:This flat silhouette of a bird has a slightly flattened, rounded head with a circular eye, a short, down-turned beak, a rounded breast, a pointed wing and a large claw and tail, on which feathers are indicated by vertical striations. A slightly later and simplified example was found at Shaanxi Chang’an Huayuancun. See Rawson 1995, p.226; cat.no.12.27.
