Description:
Fragment of a relief plaque made of painted stucco. Shown is the upper body of a gandharva holding a beaded garland. Gandharvas are male nature spirits said to have superb musical skills. This one is depicted with a bare upper body and the hair in a topknot, head surrounded by a nimbus. Faint traces of a necklace are visible and the gandharva wears a beaded girdle around the waist. The lower body is covered by a skirt in the shape of a flower. Traces of white, blue, black and red pigments are still clearly visible.
