Description:
Potala monk’s ornament (ceremonial) made of cloth, turquoise and brass. At top a square panel; red, floral patterned silk brocaded cloth (silver metal-wrapped thread on satin silk ground), padded. Domed turquoise and brass ‘brooch’ with long streamer suspended below. Three sections made from silk thread (white, lilac and tones of blue) wound round cardboard (?) with commercially made gold and yellow silk passementerie. Separated by floral embroidery (pekin knots), outlined with couched gold metal-wrapped thread on a yellow silk woven ground. Divides into three sections towards bottom with further wrapping and embroidery; finished with endless knots (macramé) and red silk tassels. Lined with faded pink tabby cotton cloth.
