The walls of the town, the Kumbum or great chorten of Gyantse, the monastery and the settlements around the monastic buildings can all be seen clearly from this vantage point. Hopkinson probably took this photograph on the afternoon of March 14th 1927 when he went to repay the calls of the two Dzongpon who had visited him previously. Tibet. Photographic process
