Description:
Mandala. Five-stepped wooden base painted green and yellow, with ten animal-headed deities ranged around the second step from the base. These have painted metal heads supported on wooden dowels which slot into holes in the stepped base, with bodies made of strips of plain, brocade and pleated silk, with pendant paws or claws and tails with embroidered detail. A single deity is fitted to the fourth step from the base. A red wooden roundel decorated with thread sits on top of the base. A further seventeen animal-headed deities, larger than those on the base, with embroidered details on the bodies as well as the limbs, and without the wooden dowel supports, are fitted at the neck into a red wooden roundel, split in the past and mended with metal staples. One last dog-headed deity with fabric streamers at his head sits at the top.
