Kite; in shape of carp. Made from nylon with printed design of carp in purple and pale blue with orange detail, and orange and red eye with central gold paper sticker on each side. Circular mouth, stiffened with plastic ring, with three metal studs and string attached.

Comments:Paper slip which came with original packaging reads: “KOINOBORI: In Japan, carp streamers are traditionally flown on May 5, Boys’ Day. Flying carps are hoisted onto poles that reach up into the blue sky for several weeks around May 5. The flying carp symbolises courage and ambition recognizing a tale of a carp that once swam all the way to heaven to become a dragon.”
