It is painted in a polychrome palette, dominated by red and green, with plant-like scrolling dragons on a lotus ground on the body and phoenix on a background of lotus on the spout. Imposed on a dense diaper ground around the shoulder are three floral cartouches. Plantain leaves encircle the neck. It has an unglazed base which has fired a brick-red colour.
