The outside is scored with horizontal lines around the neck in two bands and with concentric lines around the body. It is biscuit-fired. There is a horizontal row of studs which are covered with an opaque cream glaze around the shoulder. These bowls were made in imitation of basketwork rice-measures. A related example was recovered from the Shinan ship wreck dateable to AD 1323.
