A dragon with open jaws, two front legs and a body of curling foliage is painted in underglaze blue on either side of the belly. Comments:Harrison-Hall 2001:The dragon with the scrolling foliage body is adapted from designs which appear on late Chenghua period imperial quality porcelains. The jar is dated to the Hongzhi to Zhengde periods by its stylistic similarities to jars such as one painted with figural decoration that was unearthed in the tomb of Xia Lianggui (1437-1513).
