Description:
Porcelain jar with underglaze blue decoration. This jar has a short cylindrical neck with a thickened mouth and a raised collar with scalloped edges. The body of the jar is moulded into six panels, divided by horizontal ribs. Each panel is made up of two lobed sections and shows a standing female figure alternately glancing left, then right, painted in underglaze blue, with a flame border at the base and ‘ruyi’ heads around the shoulder. The collar is decorated with a white scroll on a blue ground and the neck with beaded gadroons, half-wheels and lotus flowers. The jar has a recessed glazed base.
