Description:
Porcelain jar with underglaze blue decoration. This ovoid jar has an inwardly tapering neck and a stepped-edge foot. It is painted in high ‘transitional’ style with a pair of birds among flowering prunus, bamboo and pine, which represent the Three Friends of Winter, with ‘lingzhi’ fungus, approached by three more flying birds. The neck is painted with a flame border and the foot with a band of lotus petals. The base is slightly sunken in the centre and is unglazed.
