Description:
Porcelain jar with underglaze blue decoration. This ‘min yao’ globular jar is flared at the foot and has a narrow raised neck with rolled lip. The base is recessed and glazed. It is decorated in underglaze blue with a pair of pheasants looking at each other, perched on separate rocks with large tree peonies.

Comments:Harrison-Hall 2001:The birds may simply reflect a scene from the natural world. However, a golden pheasant with long tail feathers is a symbol of an official in the civil service.
