Description:
Porcelain jar with incised decoration and monochrome blue glaze. This ovoid jar has a short neck with a thickened lip and a recessed base. It is covered inside and out with a monochrome blue glaze. Incised in the main register are two pairs of confronting winged dragons, shown with tremendous energy, teeth bared, jaws open and claws flexed, chasing each other among ‘ruyi’ clouds. Below is a band of classic lappets and above a border of ‘ruyi’ head scroll with individual ‘ruyi’ clouds around the neck. The six-character mark on the base is incised and later the blue glaze covering the characters has been chipped away around the mark, revealing a pure white body.
