Description:
Porcelain jar with underglaze blue decoration. Almost identical to BM 1953.1017.2, this globular jar has a ground-down neck and a foot with a flat base. It is painted with three stylized lotus blooms whose continuous stem encircles each flower. The ill-fitting glaze is covered with dark-brown crazing. The neck is badly chipped.

Comments:Harrison-Hall 2001:As discussed more fully above, such jars were commonly exported to Southeast Asia and this example was collected in Borneo, Indonesia, in the 1880s.
