Description:
Drum-shaped porcelain ink and brush stand with missing top, incised and painted in the ‘fahua’ palette. This drum-shaped porcelain ink and brush stand has been ground down at the opening and would have originally been similar to BM 1973.0726.368. Encircling the upper and lower edges is a raised band of bosses and in between an incised panel of lotus scroll painted over with turquoise, white and amber on an aubergine ground. The base and inside are unglazed, revealing a body typical of the Jingdezhen kilns.

Comments:Harrison-Hall 2001:An ink stand with incised and on-the-biscuit enamel decoration in ‘fahua’ style with its top still intact but without the bosses and in a different colour scheme is in the Percival David Foundation of Chinese Art, London.
