Description:
A helmet [see Curator’s Comments]; padded; heavy. Conical; made of blue (indigo dyed?) tabby wool cloth. Divided into four sections by four patchwork polychrome wool ‘streamers’. Brass (?) ‘button’ centre top and brass peak. Lengths of padded cream, blue and lilac satin silk cloth stitched to lower part of hat. Hat lined with natural cream (dirty) tabby cotton cloth. Ear and nape flaps (one piece) made from blue tabby wool cloth with nap; lined with red cloth of same material. Piped with yellow tabby cotton cloth. Leather ties. Small holes in woollen fabrics.
