Description:
A man’s hat. Domed, with flat circular top, with large upturned brim, tapered at back. Made from purple damask silk cloth at sides, (darker) purple silk velvet cloth at top with red stuffed macramé knot (cotton, twill weave) stitched to middle. Line of plaited gold-coloured metal-wrapped thread couched at top edge. Padded brim made from black cotton velvet cloth on outside; inside quilted at front. Hinged padded flap at back; two cream ties (cotton, twill weave) hang down back. Inside of hat and brim lined with natural cream tabby cotton cloth. On lining the words: ‘Dinĝ-pön’s’.
