Description:
A woman’s gown; with long sleeves. Made from brown brocaded silk cloth with the Chinese longevity/immortality symbol, ‘shou’ worked in horizontal lines using gold-colour metal-wrapped thread. Symbol surrounded by five gourd motifs; cloud patterns inbetween. Left front overlaps right; fastened under right armhole with brass domed button and mid-blue braided loop. Sleeves long; slightly tapered. Gown lined with blue tabby cotton cloth; unevenly dyed. Tear in back panel.
