Comments:Harrison-Hall and Krahl 1994:Jugs decorated with such faces were first made in earthenware at Rouen in France, but were later copied by many European pottery and porcelain manufactories. Chinese versions are rare, but are also known in blue-and-white (Sotheby’s London, 6th November 1993, lot 40).
