Description:
Fragmentary clay figurine of a monkey. The animal is shown holding a type of pan pipes, in China known as paixiao (排簫/排箫) to his mouth. The left monkey’s left leg is missing, details such as fingers and eyes were rendered using incised lines. The figure was moulded using red clay and covered with a white slip before being fired.
