Comments:There is a list of descriptions of the subjects inserted in the front of the album. This drawing is described as: “79. A Bronze urn and a Plough. – Vide Sir Geo: Stauntons Acc.t. The Bronze urn described in Page 351 of the 2.d Vol, & the Plough, Page 363. Vol. 2.d”A similar urn, though with a differently-shaped lid, is included in Plate 26 of “The Costume of China” (published 1805; etched lettering under the image:”W: Alexander f.” and “London Published Oct:r 19 1800. by G & W Nicol, Pallmall,”) entitled “A Sacrifice at the Temple”.Additionally, a profile view of an identical-looking urn is present in Plate 6 of “Picturesque Representations of the Dress and Manners of the Chinese” (published 1814; no lettering under image). In the list of plates which prefaces the images, this print is titled “Young Bonze sacrificing”, whereas the title heading the plate’s accompanying text reads “An Offering in the Temple”.For further information about the album, see comment for 1865,0520.193.
