Comments:There is a list of descriptions of the subjects inserted in the front of the album. This drawing is described as: “37 Children playing, The middle one is a Boy with a Calibash fasten’d to his Back, this contrivance frequently saves the lives of such children, as are brought up in Boats (which is the case of 1/4 part of the natives of that populous country) & the cover’d part of the Boats being of arched matting is the reason such accidents are not unfrequent.” For further information about the album, see comment for 1865,0520.193.
