Comments:There is a list of descriptions of the subjects inserted in the front of the album. This drawing is described as: “46. An extraordinary rock in Tartary from a sketch by Cap.n Parish, Vide Ditto- D.o- Page, 204 vol. 2.d”The engraving in Staunton’s “Account” (engraved lettering under image: “W Alexander del” and “H(?) Ellis Scul”) differs substantially from the BM watercolour with the inclusion of a boat with a tall mast on a body of water in the foreground and what appears to be a house on the left near bank.For further information about the album, see comment for 1865,0520.193.
