This drawing is described as: “26 Two heads of natives of Cochin China, the upper one is of a Soldier in a common Dress, with his sabre slung across his back. the under head was from one of the middle class, the lips of these people are remarkably red from the immoderate use of Betel & the areca nut, which custom is universal in this country – “For further information about the album, see comment for 1865,0520.193.
