Description:
Square porcelain dish with underglaze blue and overglaze yellow decoration. This four-sided dish has flaring sides and a slightly tapering broad square foot. The decoration is all executed in underglaze blue on a yellow ground. A composite plant combining the Three Friends of Winter – prunus, pine and bamboo – with two ‘lingzhi’ plants is framed by a double line border and the rim edged with double lines. This motif is repeated on each of the four sides outside. The base is coated with yellow enamel and carries a six-character Jiajing reign mark in black enamel which has smudged.
