Description:
Serving dish. Coat of arms of Salter impaling Brooke. Made of porcelain, decorated in underglaze cobalt blue in Chinese style with flower bouquets on the rim and diaper border round the well; with an enamelled coat of arms in the centre. The family of Salter were seated at Rich-Kings in Buckinghamshire and other midland counties, but it is of the Buckinghamshire family that Sir John Salter, Lord Mayor of London in 1740, was descended.

Comments:Howard 1974 p. 173Sir John Salter (whose family were originally from Buckinghamshire) was Lord Mayor of London in 1740. He was also a director of the East India Company who may have married a Miss Brooke. He died on 1 June 1744
