Description:
Porcelain dish with impressed floral medallion and incised ribbed well beneath a green glaze. This olive-green-glazed dish has a flat slightly inverted rim. The foot ring and base are glazed apart from a wide ring for firing. The centre is decorated with a much-rubbed moulded floral medallion and the well with vertical ribbing. The outside is undecorated. On the base are two drilled owner’s marks.

Comments:Harrison-Hall 2001:Yuan pieces of this type tend to have a larger central design, whereas in the Ming period the design in the centre of the dish is small and the ribbing in the well less carefully executed. This dish was acquired through the French Canadian, M. Pelland. Prior to this, it was collected in India by the railway engineer William Cummins (see BM 1963.0520.5).
