Description:
A porcelain dish with incised decoration and monochrome red overglaze. This saucer dish has rounded sides and a tapering foot. Inside it is incised beneath a blue-white glaze with two phoenix chasing each other around a flaming pearl, both in roundels. Outside the dish is covered with a well-worn tomato-red glaze. The base bears an underglaze blue Jiajing six-character reign mark in a double ring.

Comments:Harrison-Hall 2001:Male and female phoenix in the Jiajing era are generally shown with these different types of tail: one with a foliage tail and the other with five tail feathers of equal length.
