Description:
Porcelain dish with incised design and green glaze. This shallow dish has rounded sides and a flattened rim. It has no foot and the base is glazed apart from a ring for firing which shows traces of the kiln support. Inside it is finely decorated. In the centre there is an incised lotus bloom in a triple ringed medallion surrounded by four further lotus blooms with scrolling foliage; the rim is decorated with a key-fret design. Outside it is undecorated.

Comments:Harrison-Hall 2001:This type of ornamentation may be seen on blue-and-white and underglaze red porcelains from Jingdezhen dating to the Hongwu era, such as a blue-and-white dish in the British Museum (see BM 1940.1214.264).
