Description:
Porcelain dish with underglaze blue and enamelled decoration. This shallow dish has rounded sides and a wide flat everted rim with a low tapering foot. In the centre, painted in red and green enamels, is a large vase, positioned in front of a low garden fence and filled with lotus and foliage, and a bird carrying a branch in its beak. The rim is decorated with alternating red and green and yellow ‘ruyi’ heads. The centre and rim edges are outlined in underglaze blue. Outside two branches are painted in black and green enamels as if growing from the rim. The foot ring is gritty and bevelled and the base covered with air bubbles and chatter marks.
