Description:
Two porcelain dishes with reserved white decoration on a blue ground. These two dishes each have rounded sides, a flared rim and a tapering foot. As a result of hand painting, there are certain variations in the execution of the designs, which are, unusually reserved white on a blue ground. Inside four cranes fly among clouds around a roundel encircling the character ‘shou’ [longevity]. Outside eight cranes are depicted, alternately flying up and down. Each base is also glazed blue and carries a six-character underglaze blue Jiajing reign mark in a double ring beneath the glaze.
