Period:Ming dynasty Production date:1643 (circa)
Materials:porcelain
Technique:glazed
Subjects:flower
Dimensions:Diameter: 20.20 centimetres Height: 4 centimetres
Description:
Porcelain dish with traces of overglaze enamel decoration and crackled green glaze. This dish has rounded sides and a gritty foot ring and base. It is covered with a crackled green glaze and is unusual as it is decorated with a peony flower in overglaze polychrome enamels. Sadly the ravages of the sea make it possible to discern only the ghost of the image with traces of red, black and yellow enamels.

Comments:Harrison-Hall 2001:This type of decoration combining celadon glazes with multi-coloured enamels was used at Japanese kilns in the seventeenth century.
