Description:
Dish. Coat of arms of Perceval. “Argent on a chief indented gules three crosses pattee of the field”, with the crest, ” A thistle erect leaved proper”. Sir John Perceval, F.R.S., M.P., the 5th Baronet, was created Baron Perceval in 1715, and in 1733 raised to the Earldom of Egmont (he died in 1748). The service has no mark of rank and it is possible though unlikely that it was made for John, only son of Lord Perceval, or for one of the Earl’s cousins. This service is one of six made for the family. Made of enamelled porcelain.
