Description:
‘Famille rose’ dish with an English coat of arms. The dish shows a Chinese design of two cocks perched on pierced rocks among peonies, within a shaped hexafoil surround of rose-pink diaper and a green diaper rim border. Above this design is an oval panel containing a coat of arms, “Or on a fess between six lions’ heads gules an annulet” under a helmet with elaborate plumes, with a griffin crest above and with a band for a motto left blank below. The arms are those of Goodwin of Torrington in Devon and of Suffolk.
