Description:
Large porcelain dish with overglaze red, green and yellow enamels. This ‘min yao’ dish has rounded sides and a tapering foot ring. It is decorated in red, green and yellow enamels over a dove-grey glaze. The designs are outlined in red enamel and show two lions chasing each other over a flower-scroll ground in a central medallion, encircled by a ring of alternating red and green petals and with further flower scrolls in the cavetto and outside by a wave border at the inner rim. The four-character mark in a double ring on the base reads: ‘Nan chuan zhi zao’ [Made in Nanchuan].
