Porcelain dish with rounded sides. There is an incised and painted dragon with clouds, waves and rocks in green copper overglaze enamel in the centre of the interior, and two incised and painted dragons on the exterior. There is a mark on the base.

Comments:Published PDF date : Ming Chenghua Room 95 label text:PDF 707Dish with green dragonsPotters incised this dish with a design of dragons chasing flaming pearls. This was covered in a wax resist and the dish was then dipped in clear glaze and given a high-temperature firing. The dish was then painted with green enamel on the biscuit areas but also over the clear glaze for details such as the dragons’ whiskers and flames. The base carries a six-character underglaze cobalt-blue Chenghua reign mark.
