Comments:Published PDF date : Qing Kangxi 1662-1722 Room 95 label text:PDF 818 Serving dish with peachesThe porcelain painter has created subtle gradations of colour within the peach using a palette of translucent enamels by applying green to coral pink to red in painted and blown-on trenches. Over the peach, itself a Chinese emblem of long life, the characters 萬壽 (wanshou, ‘ten thousand longevities’) are gilded in an elongated seal script. Outside the dish is painted with peaches, leafy branches and 壽 (shou ‘longevity’) characters. Wanshou was an imperial birthday greeting and it is probable this dish was made to celebrate the 60th birthday of the Kangxi emperor (lived AD1654–1722) on 12th April1713.Porcelain with underglaze cobalt-blue mark, translucent overglaze colours and gildingJingdezhen, Jiangxi province江西省, 景德鎮Qing dynasty, Kangxi mark and period, about AD 1713 PDF
