Description:
Porcelain ‘ding’ (tripod incense burner) with underglaze blue and overglaze polychrome enamels in ‘wucai’ style. This incense burner has a rounded body with relief-moulded dragons and ‘lingzhi’, two restored semi-circular openwork handles at the rim and three small feet. It is decorated with underglaze blue and overglaze yellow, red, green and purple enamels which are well worn. The base bears a six-character underglaze blue Wanli reign mark within a double ring.

Comments:Harrison-Hall 2001:Although similar to BM 1937.0716.90, and to the aforementioned incense burner in the Ding Ling, the present burner differs in certain aspects. For example, here the dragons almost bite at the rim of the vessel rather than stand on their heads.
