Description:
This tall porcelain cup stands on a foot ring and its sides flare at the rim. On the side is a handle shaped like a Japanese gateway. Around the outside it is decorated with eight double outlined panels framing flowers and rocks in underglaze blue.Such blue and white porcelains of this quality and form were exported from China in large quantities. Shipwrecks such as the Vung Tau circa 1690 carried large quantities of similarly decorated tall cups without handles.
