Description:
Porcelain stem cup with underglaze blue decoration. This delicately potted stem cup has rounded sides, an everted rim and a flaring stem. Inside in the centre it is painted in underglaze blue with a six-character Xuande reign mark in a double ring. Outside a pair of phoenix, wings outstretched, are depicted flying over a formal lotus-scroll ground. The male phoenix has a long undulating plant-like tail and the female has a shorter tail comprising five streamer-like feathers. The base is flat, solid and unglazed.
