Description:
Cong of translucent yellow jade with light and dark brown areas polished to a soft finish. The slightly convex four-sided prism is perforated, the ends of which have been rounded. The perforation is drilled from both ends and the inside surface polished smooth.

Comments:This cong is likely to have come from western China and should be dated to late Shang or Western Zhou period, c.2000BC-1200BC. The central hole is drilled from both ends and is polished smooth on the inside. See Rawson 1995, p.153, cat.no.7.2. Eastern Zhou (as thought when bought).
