Description:
Copper alloy coin-shaped charm. Modelled on the spade-money issued by Wang Mang in AD 14, The side illustrated here gives the inscription found on the obverse (front) of Wang Mang spade money, written in the ‘hanging needle’ style of calligraphy. Above the inscription is the star constellation known as The Plough/The Big Dipper. Below the inscription is a turtle and snake, the combination of which represents Xuanwu.
